Dr. Chibuzo Okereke, the Labour Party’s 2027 presidential contender, has launched his “Nigerians First! Believe Again!” plan, vowing to prioritise people’ welfare, boost national security, reform public institutions, and restore trust in government if elected president.
During his acceptance speech for the party’s presidential nomination, Okereke stated that his vision represents “a fundamental philosophical shift” in governance, arguing that governments should prioritise citizen development over preserving political power.
“Our Nigerians First Vision represents a fundamental philosophical shift in our nationhood theory, with a focus on developing Nigerians, securing Nigerians, expanding socioeconomic opportunities, restoring our people’s dignity, fostering citizen trust, and investing in the Sustainable Development Goals. “We are confident that when Nigerians prosper, Nigeria prospers,” he stated.
He believes that his administration will be defined by governance rather than politics.
“Our presidency would prioritise people and governance over politics. We understand that governance, not politics, is the true purpose of government. “Nigerian citizens will become partners in nation-building rather than spectators,” he said.
Okereke affirmed that his administration would implement a “Nigerians First Great Reset National Recovery Blueprint” anchored on key priorities: national security and peace building, economic stabilisation, food security and productive growth, education, healthcare and human capital development, institutional reforms and good governance and national unity, social cohesion and physical discipline.
On security, he promised to strengthen the military forces and take a whole-of-society approach to restoring peace. “Our goal is clear: to restore public trust in the Nigerian state’s ability to protect lives and property throughout the nation. We will rebuild our military and restore the pride and majesty of our land,” he said.
