Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), stated on Tuesday that the party will determine the Vice President’s post at the appropriate time.
Morka stated that endorsing President Bola Tinubu for a second term simultaneously endorses the Vice President.
He revealed this during his appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show.
The APC spokesperson responded to rumours on the potential exclusion of Vice President Kashim Shettima as Tinubu’s running partner in 2027.
Morka stated: “The role of Vice President, when the occasion arises, is subject to discussions at the party level regarding the determination of the Vice President.”
“Thus, when they endorse the President, it, in my interpretation, also signifies an endorsement of the incumbent Vice President, regardless of whether his name appears, as the President is the candidate on the ballot.”
“It is not straightforward to simply presume that and assert it due to the joint ticket.” The President, previously emphasised as governor, has had opportunity to alter his deputies.
“Thus, it does not diverge from established trends and his previous actions.” However, this is precisely why the entire matter is highly conjectural.
