Ambassador Joe Keshi, a former Nigerian diplomat, has expressed his views on why President Donald Trump of the United States of America initiated the ongoing battle with Iran.
Keshi pointed out that a nuclear deal made by previous President Barack Obama with the United States was in effect until President Trump cancelled it five years ago, during his first term.
He claimed that Trump’s rationale for scrapping the deal could have been that he never wanted a black man to be President of the United States before him, and that he was willing to ruin all Obama had accomplished.
Speaking to Arise News, the former diplomat stated, “I believe the world is in the state it is in today because of the irresponsibility of world powers, who now believe that because they are powerful, they have the right and privilege to do whatever they want within the international system.
“You have Russia attacking Ukraine, and now you have the United States and its partner Israel doing whatever they want, or have planned to do for so many years.
“First and foremost, we must recognise that the current situation in the Middle East was produced by a single individual: the President of the United States.
“Four or five years ago, he cancelled Obama’s Iran deal, which, by the way, was functioning well.
“The International Atomic Energy Agency frequently monitored Iran’s nuclear development progress and issued reports indicating that they were in compliance with the agreement signed by Obama.
“But Donald Trump arrived and cancelled it for two reasons. One, due to Israeli pressure. Netanyahu is a very close friend. Second, Donald Trump wants his name.He does not believe, and one of his primary difficulties is that a black man became president before him, which has remained so unpleasant to him that he was prepared to criticise anything Obama did.
“Second, the Americans, Iranians, and Israel first characterised this as Iran gaining nuclear capability or capacity. But here’s the point.
“The truth is that when Donald Trump bombed Iran last year, he claimed that he had destroyed Iran’s nuclear development. So there was nothing left to do, and they speculated that it would be years before the Iranians could rebuild.
“So, what exactly are they doing now?” They are assassinating Iran’s leaders in an attempt to reimpose regime change.
Here is what everyone should know. America has attempted regime change numerous times, but has failed. Afghanistan is a typical case.
Libya is a typical case. Iraq is a typical example, and this is the most recent.
“Last night, Donald Trump called on the Iranian people to take over their government. How, for goodness sakes, will Iranians accomplish that? So it demonstrates that America went to war without anticipating or preparing for who would take over. So, how do we affect regime change?
“So here we go again, with the risk of another American blunder.
“But by the end of it, they would have killed as many people as in the past, and they would have destroyed Iran, which was not a danger. Iran is not a threat to the US, but Netanyahu’s desire to pursue it has led to current actions.
As previously reported, Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was assassinated on Saturday after the US and Israel launched the most audacious attack on Iranian sites in decades.
According to Iranian media, Khamenei’s daughter, granddaughter, son-in-law, and daughter-in-law were all killed in the hit.
The Israeli army reported that Ali Shamkhani, Khamenei’s top advisor, and General Mohammad Pakpour, the head of Iran’s formidable Revolutionary Guards, were also killed in the strikes.
The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) announced that their fighter jets had killed seven key members of the Iranian defence command.
