The executive committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ajaka Ward 1, Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Area of Kogi State, has issued a forceful reaction to the reported defection of one Idris Husseini Kashim, alleging that he was never a registered member of the party in the ward.
In a statement on the situation, the ward executives described the alleged resignation as “social media propaganda aimed at gaining cheap political points.”
The party leadership stated that after completing a comprehensive review of both the old party register and the ongoing computerised registration list, there was no record of Kashim.
“We do not know him as an APC member in Ajaka Ward 1 based on available records,” the statement said in part.
“The old party register was thoroughly searched and even the comprehensive list of the ongoing E-registration has no records of the imposter.”
The leaders emphasised that membership in the APC is a legal and procedural matter that cannot be claimed through social media. As a result, they have issued Kashim a 72-hour deadline to rescind his resignation letter, threatening legal action if he fails to comply.
“We categorically submit that the aforementioned Idris Husseini Kashim has never related to us politically as a ward,” the statement stated.
“We completely and unequivocally disassociate ourselves from the purported resignation aimed at gaining cheap political points.”
Idris Ali, Ward Chairman, and Hassan Mamuda, Ward Secretary, jointly signed the statement on behalf of the party’s executive members, stakeholders, and general members in Ajaka Ward 1.
