1. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of 65 ambassadors, including 31 non-career and 34 career diplomats, to Nigeria’s foreign embassies around the world and the United Nations. Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, confirmed this in a statement issued on Friday.
2. A former Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami (SAN), his wife, Asabe Bashir, and son, Abdulaziz, have all been granted bail in the sum of N200 million by an Abuja Federal High Court. The three are being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on money laundering accusations totalling N8.7 billion.
3. President Bola Tinubu promised on Friday to destroy terrorism and restore peace in Nigeria, telling troops that “we will win” while hosting an interfaith iftar at the State House in Abuja. During the recent Ngoshe attack in Borno’s Gwoza LGA, Tinubu vowed, “Nigeria will prevail.”
4. Rotimi Amaechi, former Rivers State Governor and Minister of Transportation, has formally joined the African Democratic Congress, completing his registration in Ward 8 in Ubima, Ikwerre Local Government Area, Rivers State, on Friday morning. The registration occurred after the ADC office in the neighbourhood was set on fire by unknown individuals in the early hours of the same day.
5. On Friday, wives of Nigerian military members incarcerated for allegedly attempting to overthrow President Bola Ahmed Tinubu held a demonstration in Abuja. The demonstrators, along by human rights advocates Omoyele Sowore and Barrister Deji Adeyanju, came on the Federal Capital Territory and demanding an open trial for their husbands.
6. The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) claims it apprehended two suspected bandits during an intelligence-led operation in Saminaka Community, Patigi Local Government Area, Kwara. The suspects, Abubakar Jubril, 28, and Mohammed Abubakar, 26, were detained on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, after the command’s operatives conducted prolonged monitoring.
