Senate President Godswill Akpabio has questioned former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi’s political fidelity after the 2023 general election.
Akpabio spoke on Tuesday at the launching of a new NRS building, criticising politicians who, he claims, desert their parties after receiving enormous electoral support.
He believes that such activities damage party institutions and political stability.
“Someone will go and get up to six million votes in the last presidential election through a political party, only to quit that party and the six million votes to start looking for a new party to form.
“I’m not discussing Soludo. “I’m talking about someone in his neighbourhood,” Akpabio stated.
The phrase is widely regarded as referring to Peter Obi, who received more than six million votes in the 2023 presidential election.
Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, ran in the election on the Labour Party platform but is now running for president on the African Democratic Congress (ADC) banner.
