Why Peter Obi should be applauded—Rep. Ogene

Afam Ogene, a House of Representatives member, believes former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi should be commended for his recent political move.

On Wednesday, Ogene made this statement on Channels Television’s ‘Sunrise Daily’.

Obi, along with former NNPP presidential candidate Rabi’u Kwankwaso, abandoned the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in favour of the Nigerian Democratic Congress, NDC, on Sunday.

The congressman expressed his own opinion, saying, “I thought people should applaud Obi.” Would you prefer stew in a problem or shift to a more suitable environment.

“I don’t want this to be a ‘We vs Them’ scenario; otherwise, I would have simply asked you why Atiku Abubakar didn’t stay in the PDP and manage the crises that developed as a result of his candidature just four years ago.

“Why didn’t he stay with the various political parties where he came out to compete as their presidential candidate and then left?

“What Mr. Peter Obi wants is a country that works for everyone. It’s not a political party beset by a slew of tricks perpetrated by conflicting interests in the House and the administration to ensure that he doesn’t even appear on the ballot.
