Presidential candidate representing the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, has declared that he will not withdraw from the competition for any other challenger before to the party’s 2027 presidential primary.
He emphasised that Nigeria urgently requires “competent and visionary leadership” capable of reversing nearly two decades of economic deterioration, escalating insecurity, and increasing poverty throughout the nation.
In response to enquiries regarding his prospects against notable individuals like former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Minister Rotimi Amaechi, Hayatu-Deen asserted that every qualified Nigerian possesses a constitutional right to pursue electoral office.
“This is a significant endeavour, and we are at a pivotal juncture in our nation’s history,” he stated.
He attributed Nigeria’s ongoing issues, such as inflation, elevated unemployment, insecurity, and the declining quality of education and healthcare, to what he characterised as ineffective leadership since 2007.
He juxtaposed this with nations like Rwanda and Ghana, which, in his view, have successfully emerged from crises via disciplined government.
“I am confident in my experience, ideas, and practical abilities to facilitate the transformation of this country,” he stated, emphasising his commitment to fostering prosperity and enhancing welfare for all Nigerians, irrespective of location, ethnicity, or religion.
Regarding the prospect of continuing his affiliation with the party if he does not obtain the ADC presidential nomination, Hayatu-Deen underscored loyalty and political principles.
