Bala Mohammed denies planning to become Jonathan’s running partner

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has denied plans to defect from the Allied Peoples Movement, or APM, to run as former President Goodluck Jonathan’s running mate in the 2027 general elections.

Mohammed refuted the speculation, noting that his political focus remains on running for the Bauchi South Senatorial District seat in 2027 on the APM platform.

The clarification follows rumours on social media that he was being considered as Jonathan’s vice-presidential candidate by a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The theory gathered pace after a PDP faction led by Kabiru Turaki named Jonathan as their presidential contender for the 2027 election on Saturday.

Remember that Jonathan was elected as the faction’s flag bearer at a special national convention held in Abuja.

Fred Agbedi accepted the former president’s certificate of return on his behalf, despite his absence from the event.

In response, the Bauchi governor advised the public to dismiss allegations claiming otherwise, saying that he has no plans to quit his current political ambition.

“I appreciate your interest in my political objectives. However, for the sake of transparency, my primary focus remains on running for the Bauchi South Senatorial District seat on the platform of the Allied Peoples Movement, APM.

“Any reports suggesting a different political course should be disregarded as speculative and inaccurate,” governor added.
