ADC should zone the 2027 presidential ticket to the south—Amaechi

Rotimi Amaechi, a leader of the African Democratic Congress, has stated that the party’s presidential ticket should be zoned to the south.

Amaechi addressed at a meeting with ADC leaders in Kano State.

He did, however, say he will support whoever emerges as the party’s flagbearer, regardless of area.

The ADC presidential ticket should go to the South (18+). If someone from the North emerges as the ADC candidate, I am not saying we would not campaign, but it will be tough to persuade the southern portion of the country to support them.

“I also advise the ADC to explore around for the best content that can persuade Nigerians to change things around.

“There are three criteria to check for. The first factor to consider is capacity. The second factor is age. You see the point, because it makes it simpler for us Southerners to say, “Look, we’re going to compete.”

“The third and final issue is to respect the unwritten law of authority, which now exists in the South.

“We should reach an agreement and then transfer authority to the North. Do you get the point? Because it makes it easier for those of us from the South to say, “Look, we will compete,” now that the North has said, “Finish your tenure.”

“But if you then elect someone from the North, I’m not saying we won’t campaign, but it will be difficult to persuade the South to give up power, because the South will wonder why it is only when power is transferred to the South that there is a problem.

“But again, whether it’s a Southerner or a Northerner is irrelevant. “I will support whoever emerges from the primary,” he declared.
