Unidentified terrorists have threatened to assault communities in three local government areas in the Kwara South Senatorial District.
Olaitan Zubair, the coordinator of the Joint Security Watch in the senatorial district, issued a statement on Saturday that included the threat message.
The statement was forwarded to the state Commissioner of Police, chairman of Ifelodun LGA, chairman of Irepodun LGA, and chairman of Isin LGA.
The warning said in part, “We’re bringing to your attention reports of potential security threats targeting Kwara on March 23 and possible attacks on Yorubaland beginning March 28, post-Ramadan.”
“We call for prompt action and increased vigilance to protect citizens.
“The people are concerned and require reassurance of their safety.
“Awaiting your prompt response and action.”
Efforts to contact the state police command’s spokeswoman, SP Adetoun Ejire Adeyemi, at the time of this report were unsuccessful.
