The APC National Vanguard, a group within the All Progressives Congress, has encouraged President Bola Tinubu to prioritise governance achievements over partisan factors when selecting candidates for party elective positions.

The group cautioned that leadership changes could undermine previous accomplishments, emphasising the need of allowing a successful administration to solidify its achievements.

Dr. Gbenga Salam, National President of the APC Vanguards, stated in a statement issued on Thursday that the party’s position comes at a time when the country is experiencing economic difficulties.

The APC National Vanguard used Rivers State as an example, stating that despite political difficulties in the state, the administration has maintained an emphasis on governance, assuring continuity in service delivery.

The group believed that such stability is necessary for long-term development and should be promoted rather than undermined.

“Leadership must ultimately be measured by outcomes. Dr Salam pointed out that there is definite evidence of progress in Rivers State.

In addition to calling on APC leaders, the group asked Nigerians to continue supporting efforts to stabilise the economy and build public institutions.

The APC group urged political players to put development and public interest over partisan differences, arguing that administration should always be guided by performance and accountability.

“Where leadership exhibits prudence, produces development, and remains focused on the welfare of the people, it deserves to continue. This is the conclusion we reached after conducting a thorough and unbiased review of Rivers State,” the statement read.
