Ernest Njesi, Imo State Chairman of the Action Peoples Party, APP, has stated that no political manoeuvring can prevent the party from continuing to exist at both the state and federal levels.
He claimed that the All Progressives Congress, APC, was concerned about the APP’s growing popularity and widespread acceptance in the state, which prompted the attempt to deregister the party.
The APP State Chairman made the revelation during a media briefing at the party Secretariat in Owerri, where he claimed that some APC-backed individuals went to court to remove APP from the INEC list.
Njesi stated that APP is properly and legally registered and ready to compete in the 2027 elections, having been fully recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
He argued that the party has won elective posts in past elections and was heavily represented in the just ended FCT council election, demonstrating that it is legally recognised by INEC.
The APP State Chairman went on to say that the party has widespread grassroots support in the state’s hinterlands and has a better chance of winning a majority of seats in the next state and federal elections.
He further claimed that the APC, fearful of losing elections in 2027, is using the guise of some persons to demand for the deregistration of the APP, a party he claims has people-driven principles that are heavily focused on human development.

In separate remarks, the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Cajetan Duke, and its Legal Adviser, Uche Nwosu, reiterated that APP is ready to execute people-oriented policies that will ensure economic stability and security while also improving citizens’ rights.
