The All Progressives Congress (APC) has postponed the dates for its National Assembly primary elections in Zamfara State.
This is included in a statement from the party’s national spokesperson, Felix Morka, on Saturday.
Morka said that the state House of Assembly primary is scheduled on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, while the governorship primary would take place on Thursday, May 21, 2026.
He asserts that the presidential primary election is scheduled for Monday, May 23, 2026.
The announcement additionally specified dates for primary election appeals inside the state.
Per the schedule, appeals from the House of Representatives primary will be adjudicated on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, but appeals from the Senate primary are set for Wednesday, May 20, 2026.
The announcement disclosed that appeals for the House of Assembly primary are scheduled for Thursday, May 21, 2026, and appeals for the governorship primary are set for Friday, May 22, 2026.
It did not, however, provide the rationale for the postponing.
The announcement stated: “The House of Representatives primary election is scheduled for Monday, May 18, 2026, and the Senate primary is set for Tuesday, May 19, 2026.”
DAILY POST notes that the party’s national leadership postponed its House of Representatives primary elections from Friday, May 15, to Saturday, May 16, 2026, while the dates for Senate, State Houses of Assembly, governorship, and presidential primaries remain unchanged.
