The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jigawa State has suspended Hon. Ibrahim Usman, a serving federal legislator representing Hadejia, Kafin Hausa, and Auyo, as well as six party leaders, for suspected anti-party activities.
The suspension was included in a letter written by the state APC Chairman, Ahmad Garba MK, and obtained
According to the letter, the disciplinary action stemmed from charges of conduct damaging to the ruling party’s unity, stability, and interests.
The suspension affects the federal lawmaker, as well as Aisha Adamu Auyo (Kande), the State Deputy Women Leader; Yargabi Babannan Auyo, Auyo Ward Women Leader; Musa Idris Zabarau, Auyo Ward Chairman; Ibrahim Ayama, Auyo Local Government Vice Chairman; Saje Hadiyau, and Sani Abdullahi Hadiyau, the Local Government Financial Secretary.
The party stated that the State Executive Committee (SEC) received formal complaints from “concerned and loyal party members” about the suspended individuals’ alleged involvement in anti-party activities at an event on May 26, 2026, in Auyo Town, Auyo Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
According to the APC, the accused reportedly participated in conduct that brought the party into shame, undermined its authority, promoted division among members, and acted in ways detrimental to the party’s interests.
The SEC stated that, if proven, the alleged actions would violate Articles 21.2(ii), (vi), (vii), and (viii) of the APC Constitution, which prohibit disloyalty, anti-party activities, conduct likely to embarrass the party, and actions capable of causing discord and disaffection among members.
As part of the suspension, the impacted people are prohibited from acting as officers, agents, or representatives of the party in any capacity.
They are also barred from attending or participating in party meetings, activities, or functions in any official capacity, exercising powers or privileges associated with their positions, or taking any action that could influence or interfere with the disciplinary process.
However, the party chairman promised the suspended members that they would receive a fair hearing before the APC Jigawa State Disciplinary Committee.
“They will be afforded a fair hearing and an opportunity to defend themselves in accordance with the party’s constitution and the principles of natural justice,” the statement stated.
