The assassination attempt on Asimiyu Ajibola, the chairman of Accord’s Osogbo Local Government Area, has been strongly condemned by the organization, which maintains that the incident was politically motivated.
In addition, the group is calling for the Nigerian police and the Department of State Services to launch a full-scale investigation into the crime so that those responsible can be held accountable.

According to reports, the party chairman and his associates were shot and wounded on Wednesday night, June 3, 2026, in the MDS neighbourhood of Osogbo, when two assailants opened fire on a Toyota Corolla.
Doctors are fighting for his life at the University Teaching Hospital in Osun State, where he was transported.
The party has called the assaults on its members “outrageous,” “barbaric,” “despicable,” and “wicked” in the run-up to the state governorship election on August 12, 2026.
Osun State has recently been the scene of political violence, according to a statement issued by Accord and signed by its National Chairman, Barrester Maxwell Mgbudem.
“Accord, Imole Campaign and public properties, including billboards and party secretariat, have been targeted by thugs associated with the opposition All Progressives Congress in the state. Their goal is to harass, intimidate, and subdue our members, who are aware that the people have rejected their party,” Accord stated.
“Unfortunately, security agencies were alerted about the plots in an effort to foil them, but they were overridden and the perpetrators of these horrible atrocities remain free from prosecution.
This political brutality must stop immediately. Voting is clearly more powerful than using a firearm.
In the run-up to the gubernatorial race, Accord stated its distaste for political animosity in all its forms and stated its intention to advocate for an issue-based political platform.
“Our great party will not be cowed, intimidated, or suppressed by anti-democratic and reactionary forces in Osun State,” it continued.
Thanks to its pro-people governor, Osun State has been reshaped and its population have enjoyed the fruits of democracy. The state is also a bastion of the Accord. A second term for him would be justifiable. Governor Ademola Adeleke has the full support of the decent people of Osun State.
