Stanley Okoro Emegha, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State, has announced that the state leads the South-East zone in continuing voter registration ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Emegha stated that the state’s stakeholders have been striving to guarantee that the state maintains its registration status.
He said this in an interview with journalists in Abakaliki following the APC’s stakeholders meeting on Tuesday.
He stated that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has provided the state with more equipment to remedy a scarcity of machines during the process.
“We have asked INEC headquarters for more equipment because we know that what they assigned to each local government is insufficient to transport our people.
“As a result of this, we applied for and received more machines, which we then distributed.
“It is being worked on by local government chairmen, as well as tertiary institutions. We are also meeting those who are unable to get to their voting units to register; we are meeting them in various areas throughout Ebonyi State.
“The most important thing is that our people register. We don’t care who you vote for, but we do want Ebonyi to be counted among others. So we’ve started conducting a lot of voter registration.
“The truth is that we are the leaders in the entire Southeast. Stakeholders are actively working to ensure successful registration. Allow our folks to register first, whether you are in Party A or B. Then, after registration, we’ll chat about who you want to utilise your PVC for,” he explained.
