Jonathan Markus was sentenced to death by hanging by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja on Wednesday for the murders of his 82-year-old boss, Ezekiel Adebola, and his 67-year-old wife, Abiodun.
According to sources, Jonathan, the deceased’s former driver, was detained on April 1, 2024, by FCT Police Command officers following the deaths of the boss and his wife at Apo Legislative Quarters, Abuja.
Following his detention, the incident was thoroughly investigated and prosecuted by the FCT Police.
The now-convicted man was tracked down to Obajana, Kogi State, where he had gone into hiding after committing the crime, and brought back to Abuja for additional investigation.
The suspect was later arraigned in the FCT High Court, where the FCT Command prosecuted the case.
After examining the evidence presented by the prosecution and hearing counsel’s submissions, Hon. Justice M. S. Idris of the FCT High Court determined that the prosecution had proven its case beyond reasonable doubt and condemned the convict to death.
