Bakatsine, a writer who covers war and insecurity in Nigeria’s North West, revealed the incident in a Thursday post on X.

According to Bakatsine, the recovered APC landed in Gummi town during the security forces’ operation against the armed groups.

He said that the operation resulted in the killing of over 100 suspected terrorists and the recovery of the van, which was purportedly used to transport motorcycles.

A video attached to the article showed the APC arriving in Gummi town with multiple motorcycles placed inside.

The new occurrence comes a day after security personnel reportedly rescued an abducted INEC official and repelled multiple bandit attacks in Zamfara State as part of a coordinated operation.

According to Bakatsine, heavily armed robbers riding around 50 motorcycles attacked communities in Talata Mafara, rustled hundreds of livestock, and kidnapped an INEC official, Aliyu Mohammed, after he finished bringing NECO examination materials to Sokoto.

His Toyota Hilux car and exam papers were later found intact.

Police agents from the Victim and Crime Response Unit (VCRU), working with the military, reportedly tracked the robbers to Gando Forest, where they battled the attackers, rescued the abducted official and another victim uninjured, and recovered hundreds of stolen livestock.
