Rotimi Amaechi, former Minister of Transport, has formally joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
On Friday morning, Amaechi completed his registration in Ward 8 of Ubima, Ikwerre Local Government Area, Rivers State.
said that thugs had earlier invaded the ADC’s office in the town and set it on fire.
Speaking to supporters following his registration, Amaechi urged them to remain calm and resist any desire to retaliate or cause trouble.
Don’t be violent, as it may result in someone’s death. At the same time, they cannot prevent us from gathering in our neighbourhood,” he stated.
The former Rivers State governor praised the state commissioner of police and the director of the Department of State Services for their handling of security operations in the area.
Amaechi also urged security services to respond quickly to identify and convict those responsible for the arson, stressing that such acts of intimidation would not hinder the party’s efforts in the region.
