Boko Haram and other terrorist organisations have threatened to attack Nigerian towns and schools, thus the federal government has been urged to take precautions.
The 15th Biennial Mother’s Union Conference of the Church of Nigeria, Diocese of Umuahia, Anglican Communion, which took place at Ubakala, Umuahia, provided the guidance.
Terrorists have been attacking communities and students in many states across the federation, according to Gospel Ogechi Geo-Ibeabuchi, president of the women’s ministry of the Anglican Diocese of Umuahia. This has resulted in the displacement of many families.
“To prove the effectiveness of its security policies by ensuring that no community or school is again overrun by bandits,” Geo-Ibeabuchi urged the federal government.
In her view, the recent security incidents in Northern Nigeria, the South West, and parts of the South East highlight the need to enhance intelligence gathering, foster better cooperation among security agencies, and take proactive measures to prevent further escalation.
She further stressed the importance of early involvement and maintained vigilance in protecting citizens and preserving peace in the communities surrounding Umuahia, particularly Amakama, Ohiya, and Lodu, and asked the Abia State government and security services not to ignore security issues in these areas.
She mentioned that a lot of people in Nigeria were dealing with hunger, economic hardship, and uncertainty, and she stated that the government should pay attention to the problems of regular people.
