The All Progressives Congress (APC) has formed a seven-member Presidential Primary Election Committee ahead of its presidential primary on Saturday.
Former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim has been named head of the committee.
Other members include former Senate President Ken Nnamani, Senator Victor Udo Udoma, Otunba Grace Titi Laoye-Ponle, former Taraba State Governor Rev. Jolly Nyame, and former Kogi State Governor Idris Wada, with Sanusi Musa serving as secretary.
Ajibola Basiru, the APC National Secretary, reported the situation in a notification.
The party also announced the formation of a Presidential Primary Election Appeal Committee, led by former Katsina State Governor Aminu Masari.
Samuel Piwuna will act as secretary of the appeal committee, and Patricia Olubunmi Etteh, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, has been chosen a member.
In addition, the APC deployed 37 coordinators and collation officials across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory to prepare for the operation.
Among those named as coordinators are Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, and Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum.
Others are Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, former Speaker Yakubu Dogara for Bauchi State, Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu for Abia State, and former Senator Phillip Aduda for the Federal Capital Territory.
According to the party, the presidential primary election will take place simultaneously across the country’s 8,809 wards as delegates prepare to choose the APC presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
The exercise is widely regarded in political circles as a step intended to reinforce support for the current administration.
