The Edo State Police Command paraded 77 individuals on Friday, following a series of operations that were conducted around the state in June 2026, for various criminal crimes.
The individuals detained were found guilty of a wide variety of crimes, including abduction, cultism, armed robbery, murder, illegal gun possession, rape, and other offences pertaining to gender-based and sexual violence.
at his address to journalists at the parade, Monday Agbonika, the Commissioner of Police, stated that the arrests demonstrated the Command’s dedication to protecting lives and property, enhancing public trust in law enforcement, and guaranteeing openness in all security operations inside the state.
The police, according to Agbonika, ramped up intelligence-driven operations all month long, going after abduction gangs, cults, armed robbery syndicates, and those involved in violent crime.
He went on to say that in order to combat crime more effectively, the Command had also bolstered cooperation with sister security agencies and community-based security partners.
He insisted that Edo would no longer be a sanctuary for criminals, saying that the ongoing operation had severely disrupted illicit activities across the state.
