Akpabio made the pledge on Wednesday while greeting courtesy visitors from the Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria, led by its National President, Dr Lima Ahmed, at the National Assembly.

According to Jackson Udom, Special Assistant on Media to the President of the Senate, Akpabio stated:

“On behalf of the Nigerian Senate, I would like to welcome you to the National Assembly. I am equally delighted to have you in my office.

“As Nigerians, we are all aware of the insecurity concerns we are currently facing, and all I can say is that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is paying close attention to the matter, which resulted in the recent release of the abducted pupils in Oyo State.

“The current administration is doing a lot, and I am confident that the issue of insecurity will be resolved very soon. Do not rely on what you hear or see on social media; they do not accurately reflect what is going on in our country.”

Speaking further, Akpabio attributed women’s refusal to support one another during political elections to the toxic attitude of those women who had previously been given the opportunity to occupy such positions but abused them, harming other women.

Akpabio informed the golfers of his and the Senate’s support for the upcoming international ladies’ event, which would take place at the IBB International Golf and Country Club in Abuja.

Earlier in her remarks, Dr Lima Ahmed thanked the Senate President for welcoming her and her team. She formally invited him to the upcoming tournament and later honoured him as the association’s Grand Patron.
