Hayatudeen Lawal Makarfi, a close associate of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai and a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has revealed that the former Kaduna governor is preparing to compete for president in the next 2027 general elections.

Makarfi made this known to journalists on Tuesday following Nasir El-Rufai’s trial.
He said, “His excellency president Bola Ahmed will hand over to his excellency Mallam Nasir el Rufai 2027 May and the journey has started.
Kaduna Governor El-Rufai has been detained by the Independent Corrupt activities and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, and is being tried for suspected corrupt activities while serving as governor of Kaduna State.
