Yusuf Bindin, the immediate past single administrator of Zamfara State’s Maru Local Government Area, has switched from the Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP, to the All Progressives Congress.
Bindin was welcomed into the APC by the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, at a meeting in Abuja.
In a statement made on Sunday in Gusau, Zamfara State APC Publicity Secretary Yusuf Idris confirmed that the former local government administrator, along with his followers, had joined the ruling party.
According to Idris, Bindin was the sole administrator of Maru Local Government Area for one year during Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration.
He previously worked as Programme Manager of the State Universal Basic Education Board, or SUBEB, during the state’s PDP-led government.
Idris described Bindin as adding that his decision to leave the PDP was based on conversations with his supporters and displeasure with the performance of the PDP-led government in Zamfara.
While hosting the defectors at his Abuja mansion, Matawalle welcomed them to the APC and urged them to contribute to the party’s progress in the state.
Tukur Danfulani, the Zamfara State APC Chairman, attended the ceremony, as did other party officials.
