Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, has explained why he chose Rabiu Kwankwaso, the leader of the Kwankwassiyya Movement, as his running mate.
In an interview with Sun, Obi stated that he chose the former governor of Kano State because “Kwankwaso has the philosophy of pulling people out of poverty”.
Obi stated that he and Kwankwaso have a similar concept of rebuilding the country’s economy to improve individuals’ lives.
“I follow the same philosophy. Kwankwaso believes in education. Education is essential for societal progress.
“If you look at my X, formerly Twitter, I made it plain that I intend to prioritise schooling. Education will change society.
“Nigeria must be considered as creating its own human capital, which we must nurture. Kwankwaso believes in this. I do. “We have synergy.”
Obi also refuted allegations that he and Kwankwaso are at odds, saying they are still working together to prepare for the January 2027 elections.
