Claims that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State has authorised or instructed the start of zoning preparations in the run-up to its primaries and the 2027 general elections have been denied.
Benedict Yawe, the state’s publicity secretary, issued a statement yesterday in which the party asked all parties involved to hold off on any zoning-related actions in certain LGAs until the secretariat issued an official stance.
In accordance with the party’s constitution, the party also stressed that all 23 LGAs must consult with their respective local party chairs and recognised lead pointmen before engaging in any political involvement.
“The Benue State APC State Working Committee would like to make it clear that they have not given any order to start zoning in the state in any area.
Reports of ongoing zoning exercises in various LGAs have been noted by the party, who expressed their worry and made it clear that these activities are not authorised.
