The Borno South Youth Alliance (BOSYA) has asked for immediate action from government officials, donors, and stakeholders in response to Boko Haram’s 72-hour ultimatum about the abduction of approximately 416 people in the area.
The group is requesting help in the continuing mediation attempts to free abducted women and children from the Ngoshe community in Borno State.
In a statement signed by its President, Samaila Ibrahim Kaigama, the group stated it had received word that Boko Haram had issued a 72-hour ultimatum regarding the abductees.
“According to information obtained during the mediation process conducted by BOSYA President Samaila Ibrahim Kaigama, a last warning video was issued following the communication of demands, including a N5 billion ransom request for the release of the abducted women and children.
“It was also reported that instructions on how to carry out the release process had been supplied.
“In light of the urgency of this humanitarian issue, BOSYA renews its appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, concerned Nigerians, and philanthropists such as Aliko Dangote, Abdul Samad Rabiu, and other well-meaning Northern billionaires.
“We respectfully request that all capable stakeholders intervene immediately and use every lawful and available means to help secure the freedom of these 416 women and children.”
“This is a humanitarian crisis that requires immediate action, compassion, and unity,” the statement stated.
