The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has released a reaction to what it describes as “strange and dangerous” fabrications spreading on social media about its recent leadership deliberations.
The party, in a statement signed by State Publicity Secretary Nuberu Olufemi, raised worry about “distorted narratives” surrounding the state caucus meeting conducted at its secretariat in Abeokuta on Monday.
the party claimed that some media outlets purposefully misinterpreted the caucus’ resolutions.
It repeated the state caucus’ unanimous and consensual endorsement of Senator Olamilekan Solomon, also known as Yayi, as the APC’s governorship candidate, and reaffirmed its unflinching commitment to the president.
Parts of the statement stated, “For the avoidance of doubt and the sake of total clarity, the Party hereby reinforces its official position as follows:
“Gubernatorial Endorsement: The State Caucus unanimously and consensually endorsed Distinguished Senator Olamilekan Solomon, also known as YAYI, as the Party’s Governorship Candidate in the 2027 General Elections.
“Presidential Endorsement: The State Caucus reiterated the Party’s previous endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as its Presidential Candidate in Ogun State for the 2027 General Elections. The Party expresses its unwavering commitment to delivering an unprecedented bloc of votes in support of the President during the election.
“The above are the unique and true resolutions passed during the conference, and they represent the Party’s official stance. Any narrative spreading outside the limits of this official declaration is a fraud, and the Party strongly denounces it.”
The party warned the public to disregard any information not transmitted through the right official channels.
