Protectors in Katsina State’s Sukunkumi hamlet, Kankia Local Government Area, stopped bandits from attacking a hunters’ and community watch post.
About fifteen armed criminals riding motorbikes tried to storm the facility at about 7:30 p.m. on March 26, according to security sources.
Zagazola Makama, a specialist in counterinsurgency, reported that sources indicated security troops rushed to the scene and engaged the assailants in a gun battle, sending them running for cover in the surrounding bushes.
According to the sources, two of the motorcycles that had been stolen from hunters earlier in the confrontation were among the three that were found at the location.
Additionally, it was reported that Yusuf Ibrahim, a 30-year-old member of the Community Watch, was sent to General Hospital Kankia for treatment after sustaining a gunshot wound to his left leg.
In order to apprehend the fugitives and forestall any additional assaults, the sources added that clearance operations and patrols had been intensified in the region.
