Dankawu’s formal resignation letter to the party’s national leadership on Friday cited persistent internal crises and leadership disarray at the ward, local government, state, and national levels as the cause for his departure.

“My resignation is as a result of the ongoing internal party crisis and confusion besetting the party leadership structures,” he made clear.

“Consequently, I have no option but to quit my membership in the overall interest of my constituents in Kumbotso and seek a new platform that will enable me to continue my legislative duties effectively,” said the minister.

Hon. Dankawu, Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Drugs and Narcotics, wished the NNPP leadership success in their future endeavours.

According to, Tijjani Abdulkadir Jobe, the member representing Tofa/Dawakin Tofa/Rimin Gado Federal Constituency, has resigned from the NNPP.

This comes shortly after Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf announced his official departure from the party.
