France Football, the Ballon d’Or organisers, have said that it is conceivable to win the award without winning any trophies during the year in question.

The correction was provided in a statement posted on their official website on Tuesday.
They cited six previous examples, the most recent of which included Cristiano Ronaldo in 2013.
Long before Ronaldo, Denis Law accomplished the feat in 1964, and Gerd Muller did the same in 1970.
Kevin Keegan in 1978 and Luis Figo in 2000 both managed to win football’s most coveted individual award despite a trophy-less season.
