The suspects were apprehended on Tuesday by Gandun Sarki Division operatives while conducting a surveillance patrol to protect important national assets and public infrastructure.

ASC Badruddeen Tijjani, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, acknowledged the development in a statement released on Wednesday in Dutse. He stated that the suspects were apprehended behind the school’s perimeter fence during the operation.

According to him, the arrest was part of the Corps’ continuous efforts to police public spaces and prevent damage.

Tijjani revealed that the suspects were discovered with 13 square metres of aluminium roofing sheets that were thought to have been stolen from the institution, which is now undergoing renovations.

He identified the suspects as Adamu Mohammed, 31, a security guard at the school who lives in Ramin Zaki Quarters in Hadejia; Dan Inu Mohammed, 35, a carpenter from Gandun Sarki in Malam Madori Local Government Area; Isma’ila Adamu, 30, a tricycle operator from the same community; and Bashari Yahaya, 25, an apprentice from Gandun Sarki.

According to an NSCDC spokeswoman, preliminary investigations revealed that one of the suspects was a member of the school’s security team, highlighting flaws in the institution’s internal security systems.

He stated that the command had informed the management of the School of Nursing in Hadejia about the security flaws and asked the institution to enhance its internal security procedures to avoid repeat breaches.

CC Muhammad Ingawa, the Jigawa State Commandant of the NSCDC, reaffirmed the corps’ commitment to combating vandalism and protecting public facilities throughout the state.

He advised those engaged in vandalism, theft, and other types of economic sabotage to stop, emphasising that the command would continue to expand surveillance, intelligence collection, and enforcement operations to ensure offenders are prosecuted.
