The Imo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has formally inaugurated its LGA Chairmen across 27 local council areas, following their election in the recently ended congress.
Austin Onyedebelu, the party’s new State Chairman, presided over the inauguration ceremony, which took place at the party’s State Secretariat in Owerri. Onyekachi Ibezim, the party’s State Secretary, and other members of the State Working Committee also participated.
Addressing the newly inaugurated LGA Chairmen, Onyedebelu emphasised the significance of party unity and discipline.
He urged them to regard their emergence not just as a position of authority, but also as a call to service, encouraging them to encourage inclusivity and bring all party stakeholders along in their various LGAs.
The APC State Chairman stated that the party’s strength comes in its grassroots cohesion, emphasising the need of the new executive members working together to strengthen the party’s presence and ensure effective coordination across all wards and communities.
He emphasised the need of adhering strictly to the party’s constitution, which he described as the guiding structure for all party actions.
Onyedebelu also utilised the occasion to encourage the Chairmen to remain committed to the party’s objectives, principles, and leadership.
He also entrusted them with overseeing the inauguration of their respective LGA executives and ensuring that the process is fair, inclusive, and in the party’s general interest.
The State party chairman also emphasised the importance of allegiance to the State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, as the party’s leader in the state, stressing that ongoing support for Uzodinma’s administration was critical to the party’s continued growth and stability.
In separate statements, two of the newly inaugurated LGA Chairmen, speaking on behalf of their colleagues, expressed gratitude to the party leadership for their trust in them.
They swore their unshakeable devotion to the party and its constitution, promising to work tirelessly to foster unity and grow the party at the grassroots.
