Obi requires broader northern acceptance, not young backing – Analyst

Hassan Ibrahim, a Kano-based political expert, believes that the support of northern youth organisations alone would not determine whether the Nigeria Democratic Congress’ (NDC) presidential nominee, Peter Obi, will win the 2027 election.

Ibrahim stated that while interaction with youth groups was crucial for political acceptance, it was incorrect to conclude that Obi could not become president without the support of a northern youth organization.

He remarked in an exclusive interview with in response to a recent statement by Amb. Abdul Danbature, National President of the Arewa Youth Assembly for Good Leadership, who stated that Obi could not become Nigeria’s president without the backing of the northern youth.
