Tension has risen in Ilesa, Osun State, following reported attacks that killed two All Progressives Congress (APC) members and injured numerous others ahead of the state governorship election.

The most recent incident occurred on Tuesday morning in Ilesa’s Igbogi district, where APC supporters had assembled ahead of the community’s final campaign event.
According to witnesses, suspected political thugs arrived in the area about 7:30 a.m. and started fire on the crowd, forcing residents and party supporters to leave.
According to a neighbour named Sola, the attackers struck shortly before the rally’s scheduled start time.
