The State Police Command has stated that one alleged kidnapper in Akwanga Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, has been apprehended.
The command confirmed in a statement published by its spokesman, SP Ramhan Nansel.
According to the statement, the arrest of the alleged kidnapper marked a significant breakthrough in the command’s ongoing efforts to combat criminality in the state.
According to Nansel, the Police Mobile Force (PMF) 38 Akwanga Unit Command received a complaint regarding the suspect on Friday, March 20, at 5:00 p.m. According to credible intelligence, a suspected kidnapper was seen with a pistol in the neighbourhood.”
He stated that a squad of Mobile Police officers was quickly dispatched to the area and that they successfully detained the 32-year-old male suspect.
According to him, the suspect hails from Rugan Hassan in the state’s Adudu Community of Awe Local Government Area.
Upon arrest, he reported that a search of the suspect yielded one AK-49 weapon and four rounds of live 7.56mm ammunition.
The spokesman stated that the suspect and recovered exhibits have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation, and that the police will continue their investigation to apprehend other members of the criminal network in order to reduce criminal activity in the state.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro-Mohammed, expressed the command’s intention to maintain the safety and security of all citizens of the state.
