In May 2026, Nigeria’s crude oil production reached 1.70 million barrels per day, its highest level in eleven months.
In May, Nigeria’s crude oil production exceeded the OPEC quota of 1.5 million barrels per day, according to figures recently issued by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).
With combined crude oil and condensate output ranging from 1.51 million bpd to 1.86 million bpd, production performance remained robust over the review period.
In May 2026, Nigeria’s production reached its greatest point since July 2025, when it rose to 1.71 million bpd.
As a result, at 293,870 bpd, Bonny Terminal was the leading producer in Nigeria in May 2026. Not far behind at 289,900 bpd were the forcados. Third place went to Qua Iboe with 173,360 bpd, followed by Escravos with 135,470 bpd.
With 63,250 bpd in the reviewed month, Odudu (Amenam Blend) rounded out the top five production streams.
The increase in production was credited by NUPRC to the smooth running of operations, as there were no significant pipeline or facility disruptions in May 2026.
