Garba Muhammad, the Chairman of the APC Primary Election Committee in Kebbi State, revealed the development on Monday at the Haliru Abdu Stadium in Birnin-Kebbi during the party’s senatorial primary.

He stated that Senator Yahaya Abdullahi was selected as the APC candidate for Kebbi North, but retired General Jafar Muhammad Gajere obtained the party’s nomination for Kebbi South.

Gajere reportedly emerged unopposed through consensus following the resignation of Senator Garba Musa Maidoki, who represents Kebbi South Senatorial District, from the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Governor Nasir Idris, present at the primary election, stated that all senatorial candidates from the three districts in the state were selected by consensus after other hopefuls withdrew for the sake of party unity.

The emergence of consensus candidates signifies unity, discipline, and political maturity within the APC in Kebbi State, he stated.

The governor characterised APC members in the state as disciplined and law-abiding, expressing assurance that the party will achieve success in the 2019 elections.

Following his affirmation, Senator Yahaya Abdullahi sent gratitude to Governor Idris and other party leaders for their support and trust.

Retired General Gajere expressed gratitude to the governor and APC stakeholders for their confidence in him, committing to promote the unity and advancement of the party in Kebbi South.

The two candidates implored APC members to maintain unity and galvanise support for the party in anticipation of the 2027 general elections.
