In Kogi State, 17 students and kids were rescued by security forces, but two ladies and nine others remain captive.
According to security sources quoted by security analyst Zagazola Makama in an X post, the victims were rescued after joint security forces conducted ongoing operations in response to a reported kidnapping on April 27.
Sultan, Zeidah, Ahmed, Yusuf, Farooq, Museen, Mustapha, Hasheem, Mohammed, Toheer, Abdulmumin, Abdulazeem, Mahmud, Ameerah, Firdaus, Tabarakallah, and Ibrahim are among those who were rescued, according to the sources.
Nine others are still in detention, according to the sources. Habibullah, Shakir, Ahmed, Abdulhammed, Mubarak, Sultannah, Zulaiha, and Nana-Hawa and Halimat, the wives of the school proprietor, are among them.
The victims were freed after joint security forces conducted prolonged operations following a suspected kidnapping on April 27, according to the sources.
They went on to say that security forces are aggressively searching for the kidnappers and have ramped up their bush-combing operations in an effort to free the remaining hostages.
The sources further state that critical places have had personnel posted, and that vital routes, such as Kabba Junction and Zariagi, are currently undergoing stop-and-search operations.
Information collecting, surveillance, and patrols have all been intensified, according to the sources.
