Tension in the Oyo APC about alleged consensus candidates

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State is divided over a claimed list of “consensus” candidates that appeared over the weekend.

Some party executives allegedly developed a list of candidates for governor, deputy gubernatorial, senatorial, and House of Representatives positions.

The list suggested that Dr Sharafadeen Alli, Senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District, had been chosen as the gubernatorial candidate.

Alli, an Ibadan native, previously served as the Oyo State government’s secretary.

Another person, Mr Soji Adedeji, a younger brother of Dr Zacchaeus Adedeji, Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), was purportedly chosen as the Deputy gubernatorial candidate; he is from the Ogbomoso geopolitical zone.

The list also indicated that Aderemi Oseni, a member of the House of Representatives representing Ido/Ibarapa East federal constituency, was chosen for Oyo South Senatorial District, Senator Yunus Akintunde, who currently represents Oyo Central Senatorial District, was chosen to re-contest, and Mrs Hannah Ogunrsan, a former Head of Service under the administration of the immediate past governor, Abiola Ajimobi, was chosen to represent Oyo North Senatorial District.

For the House of Representatives, the list indicated that Mr Faruk Arisekola has been picked to represent Ibadan North federal constituency, Funke Adesiyan has been picked to represent Ibadan North East/Ibadan South East federal constituency, Idris Ajimobi, son of the immediate past governor, Abiola Ajimobi, has been picked to represent Ibadan North West/Ibadan South West federal constituency, and Hon. Lafioye Akinmoyede, who currently represents Akinyele/ Lagelu federal constituency

Others are Mr Akin Akinjide, who has been pencilled down for Egbeda / Ona-Ara federal constituency, Hon Ayodeji Abass-Aleshinloye, who has nene picked for Oluyole federal constituency, Hon Sunday Adepoju, who has been pencilled down for Ido / Ibarapa East federal constituency, Hon Muraina Ajibola, who has been asked to content in Ibarapa Central / Ibarapa North federal constituency, and Hon Akeem Adeyemi, who has nene picked for Oyo East /

The rest are: Olamiju Alao-Akala, who has been picked to re-contest in Ogbomoso North / Ogbomoso South / Oriire federal constituency, Hon Bosun Oladele, who has been picked to represent Irepo / Olorunsogo / Oorelope, Mr Yusuf Alaran, who has been picked to represent Iseyin / Itesiwaju / Kajola / Iwajowa federal constituency, Hon. Tajudeen Kareem, who has been picked to re-contest in Saki East / Sak
