The controversial factional National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, ADC

Nafiu Bala, has been accused of commercialising his conscience by Dino Melaye, a former senator from Kogi West.

The statement was made by Melaye while mentioning that Bala was present at the party’s NEC meeting, where INEC confirmed the leadership of David Mark (interim national chairman), Rauf Aregbesola, and others.

This information was divulged by Melaye during his Wednesday night appearance with Arise television.

He added that INEC was present and supervised the NEC meeting that took place on July 29, 2025.

Bala, who is presently running for leadership, was allegedly present at the meeting that approved the new organisational structure, according to Melaye.

“Nafiu was present at the NEC meeting that took place on July 29, 2025,” he stated. Among the attendees at that gathering were those who would later confirm Aregbesola’s and David Mark’s leadership.

“Not only was INEC present at that meeting, but so was the person who has turned his conscience into a commodity and is now making accusations.

While David Mark and Aregbesola were present and certified receiving that notice, we notified INEC in August that they had seized their posts. INEC had been monitoring that NEC meeting.

David Mark legitimately became the National Chairman on May 29, 2025, as Nafiu went to court on September 2, 2025, and the NEC is the highest decision-making body of the party.

“Concurrently, INEC ratified David Mark prior to September.

David Mark was the Chairman of ADC and Nafiu resigned on May 17. That was the circumstance prior to September 2nd, if you ask me.
