The Inter-Party Advisory Council, or IPAC, has disputed rumours that the Osun State chapter election has been moved from the state to Abuja.
The clarification was given in a response dated August 6, 2026 and signed by IPAC’s National Organising Secretary, Chinyere Ogekalu.
Ogekalu stated that her office had been alerted to a bogus circular signed by Aare Adekunle Rufai Omoaje, National Chairman of the Action Alliance, announcing the relocation of the Osun IPAC election to the council’s national offices in Abuja.
She described the circular as unauthorised, claiming it did not come from IPAC’s appropriate authorities and lacked official or constitutional backing.
“For the avoidance of doubt, at no time was any decision taken by the relevant organs of IPAC to relocate the Osun State Chapter election purportedly scheduled for 8th August 2026 to Abuja or any other location outside Osun State,” the statement stated.
The National Organising Secretary stated that any allegation that the election had been moved outside of Osun State was “misleading, unauthorised, and capable of causing unnecessary confusion among stakeholders”.
She said, “The IPAC constitution vested the National Organising Secretary’s office with responsibility for planning, coordinating and conducting state chapter elections, in consultation with relevant organs of the council.”
Ogekalu claimed that no individual or external office have the ability to unilaterally change or move authorised election arrangements.
She advised all state chairmen of registered political parties in Osun State, contestants, and other stakeholders to disregard the alleged circular.
She also stated that “the conduct of the Osun State IPAC election, whenever decided, will be communicated thru the appropriate official channels.”
The clarification comes as political parties and other stakeholders in Osun State prepare for the state’s governorship election on August 15, 2026. IPAC events are anticipated to include members from registered political parties.
The council has also nominated a caretaker committee for Osun State, which will be chaired by Odesola Oluseye Titus, the state chairman of the Action Peoples Party (APP).
Meanwhile, a group inside the Osun IPAC has formed, led by Tosin Odeyemi of the Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA).
