Turkish football officials may suspend Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi ahead of Besiktas’ forthcoming Super Lig match against Antalyaspor next weekend.
If the former Leicester City midfielder receives a yellow card in Sunday’s Istanbul derby between Fenerbahce and Besiktas, he will be suspended for one match.
Under Turkish Super Lig rules, every player who receives four yellow cards during the season is immediately suspended for one game.
Ndidi is currently walking a tightrope, having received three cautions this season.
He received his first booking against Eyüpspor during his league debut, and later against Göztepe and Kasımpaşa.
Ndidi is a regular starter in manager Sergen Yalçın’s lineup, appearing in 20 out of 21 matches this season.
He missed December’s match against Rizespor owing to international duties with Nigeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
After returning to Istanbul, an injury sustained in Morocco forced him to miss consecutive games against Kayserispor and Eyüpspor in January, and he was granted compassionate leave the following month.
Paul Onuachu and Victor Osimhen, both Nigerian internationals, have already served yellow card accumulation bans in Turkey this season.
