The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has urged Nigerians to maintain optimism, claiming that the country’s current troubles are merely a “dark Friday” that will inevitably give way to a “resurrection morning.”
In an Easter greeting written by Ladipo Johnson, the National Publicity Secretary, the party stated that this year’s celebration came at a time of great national difficulty.
He notably regretted the ongoing maladministration that has exacerbated economic misery and the surge of instability that is claiming innocent lives.
“Our hearts are heavy as we reflect on the senseless killings and attacks in Plateau State and other troubled regions across the federation,” Johnson stated.
“We remember those who have suffered, those who have been displaced, and the families who are commemorating the holy season with empty chairs at their tables. Their sacrifices and suffering will not be in vain.
However, the NNPP spokeswoman advised Nigerians not to be discouraged by the current leadership’s failings. He drew parallels between the Easter story and the Nigerian fight, pointing out that the season’s ultimate message is the triumph of light over darkness.
“The stone of poor governance, economic instability, and fear currently blocking our path to greatness will be rolled away,” he said.
“The NNPP remains committed to the vision of a New Nigeria, a nation where security of life and property is a priority, and where leadership is a tool for service, not for the enrichment of a few.”
He finished by encouraging all citizens to use this season of serious meditation and prayer for the country’s peace, while staying active participants in the democratic process to secure a better future.
“The cross appeared before the crown. Though we face the cross of bad administration today, the crown of a wealthy and secure Nigeria is within our grasp if we do not give up hope.”
