Zamfara APC senatorial primary excluded from court hearings

Dr. Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, a candidate for the Senate seat of Zamfara North in the All Progressives Congress (APC), is contesting his exclusion from the party’s primary election in a pre-election lawsuit that has began hearing at Gusau’s Federal High Court.

The APC, INEC, and Senator Sahabi Ya’u Kaura are the initial three defendants in the case before Justice Hassan Dikko.

Because of what he claims was his unfair exclusion from the senatorial primary, Shinkafi is requesting the court to declare the election null and void.

On Tuesday, the subject was brought up for mention, but proceedings were halted because of outstanding difficulties about INEC’s involvement in the case.

The court set the next hearing for June 25 and ordered INEC to make an appearance, as well as the parties to exchange pleadings before to the next date of hearing.

Bello Galadi, the plaintiff’s attorney, expressed confidence in his client’s case and stated the court would see to it that justice is done.

The matter is currently in the hearing stage, according to Senator Kaura’s counsel Jaysey Sharka.
