Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), stated on Tuesday that the allegations regarding President Bola Tinubu substituting Vice President Kashim Shettima with a new running partner did not originate from the party.

Morka stated that the APC has imposed a ban on political activities.

Rumours suggest that Tinubu may substitute Shettima with a new running mate prior to the APC’s 2027 primary.

Refuting these assertions on Arise Television’s Morning Show, Morka stated: “It did not originate from us.” It was not something we disseminated. Firstly, I am confident that you comprehend that. The ban on political activities remains effective.

Our party is not addressing the issue of political activities or candidate selection.

“Currently, we have an incumbent president and an incumbent vice president.” We have not yet activated our systems in compliance with INEC’s guidelines and regulations to initiate that discussion.

“After several months, the situation has evolved, particularly as it has recently emerged in the media as a potential substitute for the Vice President.”

“As a political party, we needed to clarify that these rumours and speculations do not originate from us, ensuring that Nigerians do not misconstrue them as such.”
