On the Benin-Lagos highway, gunmen suspected of kidnapping assaulted a commercial bus reportedly belonging to the GUO transport firm, murdering the driver and abducting an indeterminate number of passengers.

According to reports, the gunmen ambushed the commercial bus as it drove from Lagos to the country’s east along the Benin-Ore axis.
The attackers reportedly opened fire on the car, bringing it to a stop.
The driver of the vehicle was said to have perished on the scene, while the passengers were supposedly taken into the wilderness.
In a viral video, a narrator stated that “gunmen ambushed a commercial bus heading east, killing the driver and dragging the passengers into the bush.”
Confirming the incidence, ASP Eno Ikoedem, the Public Relations Officer of the Edo State Police Command, stated that operatives of the Command have launched a manhunt for the kidnappers.
Ikoedem also stated that the operatives have begun bush combing to rescue the kidnapped passengers and apprehend the offenders.
“The incident happened under the Iguobazuwa Police division, the Police Commissioner has ordered adjourning divisions to join the bush combing for the rescue operation,” she said.
