An Ekiti court condemns a guy to theft and dismisses allegations of armed robbery.
Oluwapelumi Adewale Ogundipe was sentenced to three years in jail by an Ekiti State High Court in Ado-Ekiti after being found guilty of theft following charges of conspiracy and armed robbery.
The verdict was made in Suit No. HAD/32C/2025, State vs. Ogundipe Oluwapelumi Adewale, before the High Court 4.
Ogundipe was originally accused with conspiracy and armed robbery in relation to Alasi Kolawole.
The prosecution stated that the convict and others planned to rob the victim, which carries severe punishment under Ekiti State law.
During the trial, the prosecution counsel, Kunle Sina Adeyemo Esq., Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions in Ekiti State, provided evidence to support the allegations. After reviewing the evidence and testimony, Justice A.A. Adeleye concluded that the prosecution failed to satisfactorily sustain the accusation of armed robbery.
However, Justice Adeleye found that the evidence supported the lower allegation of stealing. Based on this finding, the judge convicted Ogundipe and sentenced him to three years in prison.
Counsel A.O. Okeya Esq. represented the convict in court and defended him throughout.
The judgement builds on the Ekiti State Ministry of Justice’s recent efforts to secure convictions in criminal cases and impose accountability for activities committed within the state.
